Day four - disco night

...and the final day begins! The time everyone is waking up is getting later and later, many of us now fast asleep until wake up call at half 7! Everyone again has had a fantastically busy day, some of us slightly soggy from gorge walking and canoeing whilst others have conquered the mighty mountains of the Lake District. To top it all off those who went to the mine have come back with mineral treasures such as quartz and lead - sadly no gold! We are rounding off the night with our disco, pulling some fantastic moves to the Macarena, even Miss Wilkes and Mrs Norton joining in. We have all had a amazing time at Derwent Hill, complete with resident sheep and pheasants. All packed and ready to go (brilliant efforts folding clothes and tidying) for our last day - looking forward to seeing you tomorrow, we have so many stories to tell you!

Day three

Lots of things have happened to us today at Derwent Hill. Some of us climbed Catbells and Kittenbells taking in the beautiful scenery and travelled back on the ferry stopping off at a sweet shop on the way! Waterfalls were the order of the day for some of us, using our team skills to lead ourselves and our friends up the top of a waterfall with only a few slips along the way.  Many personal challenges were overcome on the death swing, with only a few screams! Many personal bests have happened today - very well done Year 5!

Day two

Today has been another exciting day at Derwent Hill, full of adventure and overcoming plenty of challenges such as the 'canoe hair wash!' Up bright and early (5am) we all did ourselves proud by scoring at least a 7 during room inspection. Ready for action some of us went orienteering (only getting lost once or twice) and canoeing on Derwent lake whilst others conquered the all day walk and the mighty death swing! We are thoroughly enjoying our stay and can't wait to see what tomorrow brings.

And off we go!

Year 5 have had an action packed day at Derwent Hill. After a slightly late start we arrived in sunny Keswick where we met our tutors for the week. Our first task in dormitories was to make our beds with mixed results!

Today we met the rest of our groups from Seaburn Dene and St Paul's and some of us climbed the mountain next to Scafell, meeting lots of sheep along the way. Others stayed on the Derwent Hill site and completed challenges with new friends. The weather held until the night walk when half of us  became absolutely drenched and others tested their engineering skills building newspaper skyscrapers for team challenge.

Finally, we finished the day with cake and singing happy birthday to Jamie who is 10 today! Looking forward to a fun filled Tuesday with canoeing, hill walking and...the death swing!

Unfortunately due to technical difficulties we are not able to put our photos up just yet, hopefully we will have this sorted before tomorrow and will have plenty to share with you.
